Someday it may be possible to drive directly east along the southern edge of Lake Tohopekaliga to connect to the the Florida's Turnpike.  The route would be along the present Southport Road.  The planning of such a highway is tied in to the overall development of residential areas on the east side of Lake Toho - of which six different developments have been considered.  They are tied in through a Master Planning study for development of South Lake Toho.  Many ideas have been put forward for development along the Lake Toho southern shore.  One concept is shown on the artist's sketch below.
